The sound of New Age music can be divided into the 3 parts melody, harmony, and rhythm. The harmony aspect can be thought of simply as chords. Now New Age music does use certain piano chords more than others.

One chord I’m fond of is the 9th chord. All this means is that the ninth note of the scale is used to create the chord with. For example, a triad built from the C Major scale is spelled - c-e-g. If we add the seventh note in the scale (b) we get a seventh chord - C Major 7. It’s spelled - c-e-g-b. Simple enough.

Very talented Smooth Jazz artist Rick Braun has released his latest CD titled Yours Truly and Wow! It s really a good one.

It’s a rare day indeed that I get a CD from an artist that I can truthfully say does not have a bad track in the bunch. I’m more than happy to announce that s exactly what I must say about this one. There simply is NOT a bad one in the bunch. No fillers here at all, with each song standing tall on it’s own.

Yours Truly is a nicely varied, mix of 9 tracks that are very well written songs by this clearly outstanding artist. Most of the songs display a lot of the kind emotion that

Though everybody would love to own an acoustic piano if they could afford it, the fact is an acoustic piano is not affordable for a lot of people and it occupies a lot of space. Digital pianos have been so popular because they have practically solved most of these problems for us. A lot of options are available to buyers nowadays and you get digital pianos in various looks - portable, upright and Grand piano look.

Recently, I did a Google search for the term “piano lessons.” After hitting the return key, it came up with millions of search results. Of course, I’m only going to wade through the first 20 or so. And so I did.

The one site I came upon more often than others (because of the Google ads) was something called Rocket Piano. It’s a site that promises to teach you piano. What’s not clear is just exactly what style it teaches. But it does promise to teach you piano.

On the site is a black and white picture of the creator (supposedly) named Ashleigh Southam. Now, I’m not saying this product is good or bad. It would be nice to see a sample

Showing off your piano skills is not a tough job, but is not that easy either. Most people learn piano playing by playing just the written music- playing the exact notation. This leaves little room for creativity, and, therefore, little room to show off, right?

To show off your amateur skills, instead of following the harmony note by note, follow the chord symbols written above the harmonies, bridging the gaps with whatever you desire. Playing by the chord leaves room for experimentation, the freedom to create, to invent. In other words, to show off your amateur skills. This, however, does not mean that playing by written music is less important. It is a valuable skill indeed.
